My experience at the Université Libre de Bruxelles was generally positive. The ULB is renowned for its interdisciplinary approach and the academic freedom it offers its students. I particularly appreciated the open-mindedness of the teachers and the opportunity to participate in conferences on current topics such as climate change and human rights. This approach is ideal for students who want to broaden their perspectives and engage in societal debates. The main campus, located in the heart of Brussels, is modern and well-equipped, but the cost of living can be a deterrent for many. The student housing crisis is a persistent problem here, with high rents and a high demand for housing. University residences are not enough to meet all needs, forcing some to move away from the city centre. Despite these challenges, Brussels’ cosmopolitan atmosphere and cultural richness more than compensate for these drawbacks. I recommend the ULB to students looking for a dynamic and engaged environment, with a strong focus on internationalisation.
