    Great International environment

The international communications and media program takes a blended learning approach. Even though you learn a lot of theory there is a focus on practical work as well. You get to work on projects for clients and test your ability to work in a team. During the semester there are amazing guest lectures that speak about communications within different industries. But what I love most is that the program is really a big mix of international students so you get to learn and work in a multicultural environment.

Hii! I’m in my last Highschool year and was thinking about studying at Thomas more . I’m just a bit afraid because I read some reviews which said that the English programmes aren’t really good and that the professors are not proficient. This made me a bit anxious . How is your life there? What do you think are the cons and pros?

Marketing student at Thomas More University

I would 100% recommend studying at Thomas More University of Applied Sciences. First of all, you have a very close respectful relationship with your professors. They are very transparent, open-minded and very approachable. In terms of the classes within Marketing itself, they were efficient. As in you only get classes that will benefit you in the future, no fill-in classes that have nothing to do with your studies. The Business School of Thomas More University of Applied Sciences also offers interesting seminars that you can to follow. They are crucial because you can really experience or hear about real-life business-related stories from people who work in that field. Also, you can easily make friends over there. During your bachelor’s, you also get to practice in an internship. The internships they offer are valuable and could boost your career. People in Mechelen or the surroundings are very open-minded and fun to hang out with. But there are also international students from all over the world. So you don’t need to worry about that part.

    The International programmes

Student at Thomas More (Mechelen) that’s where I study. Students from all over the world are welcomed and are now spending an amazing time studying here. I would say it is the highlight of our university due to the students’ organisation we have. They help a lot in integrating students very well.

I personally study International Communication and Media and so far it is really fun to study there is hands-on training involved, along with exchange and internship.

    Constant innovation

My overall experience at Thomas More University of Applied Sciences has been positive. What stands out most is its constant innovation. It does not remain static; instead, it continues to evolve, introducing new programs and updating its curriculum.

I especially appreciate its diversity, inclusiveness, modern environment, great location, and easy access to public transport. I also had great experiences with some professors.

One thing I will miss is seeing and experiencing the newly renovated and expanded campuses, as I won’t be there to fully enjoy the changes.

Overall, my experience at Thomas More has been very good. I appreciate its diversity, inclusiveness, accessibility, modern approach, and willingness to continuously improve. I would absolutely recommend Thomas More University of Applied Sciences to others, particularly to students looking for a dynamic and international learning environment that continues to evolve.

From graphic design to marketing: a new challenge

As a UDIT Graphic Design student, I found Thomas More University of Applied Sciences in Mechelen, Belgium to be a very good exchange option for anyone looking for a more practical and communication-focused approach to design.

If you are looking for a programme that feels more traditional or closer to fine arts, this may not be the best fit. However, if you are interested in marketing, web design, basic 3D and interior design using SketchUp, virtual reality, or creating communication materials such as posters and social media content, then this university is a great option. This was exactly the kind of experience I was looking for, and it was the part I enjoyed the most.

The professors were always approachable and willing to help, which made the academic experience much easier and more enjoyable. The classmates were also very welcoming, and the atmosphere was highly international, with students coming from many different countries. Since English was the common language, it was easy to adapt and feel included. There are also many Spanish students, which can make the experience feel a bit more familiar for some people.

Campus life was friendly and the environment was comfortable overall. The weather is not as bad as people often say; it is similar to Madrid, although with more cloudy skies. It does rain, but not as much as I expected, and I even saw snow twice during January and February.

Overall, I do not regret choosing this destination at all. I learned a lot both academically and personally, and I would definitely recommend it to students whose interests match this more applied and international approach to design.

    Bad teachers

I wouldn’t recommend to follow marketing or any “opleiding” here. The teachers kinda want u to fail and give unfair scores (my friend who did more but was different nationality got less score than me who barely did anything).
Half the class left by 2nd semester because it’s that bad.
