Founded in 2001 in the coastal belt of Sonapur, Noakhali Science and Technology University (NSTU) has rapidly emerged as a vital center for higher education and specialized research in Bangladesh. Renowned for its strong emphasis on science, technology, and engineering, the university leverages its unique geographical location near the Bay of Bengal to excel particularly in fields like oceanography, coastal resource management, marine science, and biotechnology. NSTU’s lush, sprawling 101-acre campus provides an serene environment that fosters academic focus, supported by a vibrant student culture enriched by active clubs, debating societies, and research forums. While its distance from major metropolitan centers like Dhaka presents occasional logistical and infrastructure challenges, NSTU remains a highly attractive institution for students seeking an affordable, quality public education defined by dedicated faculty, impactful scientific research, and a strong sense of community.

This is one of the few Science and Technology Universities that offers Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in English language and literature. Though primarily established for Science and Engineering subjects it has been doing well in it’s Arts and Social science faculty.

The university is still growing and has great prospects in the days to come. The only thing to consider for a student from Dhaka or abroad is that it is far from Dhaka and a quite remote area in Noakhali district. There might be a challenge to find hostel facilities during first year.

The teachers of this faculty and also from the other faculties are very capable, sincere and friendly. The green campus is a breathe of fresh air and provides the basic facilities for a student. Highly recommended for a local student.

NSTU is honestly one of the universities in Bangladesh that has been growing really nicely. It has a peaceful campus environment, a good academic atmosphere, and a lot of potential for students who want to explore research, technology, and innovation. The university is also becoming more recognized day by day.

Studying Fisheries and Marine Science was an enriching experience that expanded my knowledge of marine life, sustainable fisheries, and environmental conservation. The supportive learning environment and hands-on opportunities made the program both enjoyable and meaningful. I am grateful for the knowledge and experiences I gained throughout this journey.
