Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology (CUET) stands as one of the premier engineering institutions in Bangladesh. Located in the serene, hilly landscape of Raozan, the campus provides a secluded environment that is highly conducive to focused academic pursuit and research.
Campus and Infrastructure
The university is renowned for its scenic beauty, featuring a unique topography of hills and valleys. The infrastructure is robust, with dedicated academic buildings, modern residential halls, and a central library that serves as a hub for technical literature. The campus layout encourages a balanced lifestyle, offering ample space for both extracurricular activities and quiet study.
Department of Mechanical Engineering
The Mechanical Engineering (ME) department at CUET is one of its oldest and most prestigious faculties. It is characterized by:
Rigorous Curriculum: The syllabus is designed to meet international standards, covering core areas such as thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and robotics.
Laboratory Facilities: The department houses specialized labs, including the Heat Engine Lab and Machine Shop, which provide essential hands-on experience with heavy machinery and thermal systems.
Expert Faculty: The teaching staff consists of highly qualified scholars, many of whom are involved in cutting-edge research in renewable energy and materials science.
Academic Culture and Student Life
Academic life at CUET is intense and demanding, fostering a culture of resilience and technical proficiency. The competitive environment pushes students to excel in national and international engineering competitions. Beyond the classroom, the university hosts various technical fests and cultural programs, ensuring that graduates are well-rounded individuals ready for the global industrial landscape
The university offers a well-structured curriculum that combines theoretical knowledge with practical application. The experienced and supportive faculty members play a vital role in guiding students toward academic and professional success. Modern laboratories, research facilities, and a resourceful library provide students with the tools they need to excel in their respective fields. I recommended it high

View moreWhile I am grateful for the opportunity to study at CUET, I feel that the syllabus could be updated to better align with current industry trends and modern developments in the field. Much of the content feels outdated and lacks practical or innovative components.
Additionally, the teaching approach in some courses is heavily lecture-based and does not always encourage critical thinking, creativity, or open discussion. I believe students would benefit from more interactive classes, practical projects, and a more open-minded approach toward new ideas and innovation.
View moreChittagong University of Engineering & Technology is one of the greatest University for Technical Education. Weather, Natural beauty & Research environment is really cool. Part time job available. Food is somehow ok. Teachers are friendly but class room environment could be better.
View moreChittagong University of Engineering & Technology (CUET) offers a very strong academic environment, especially for engineering students. The faculty members are knowledgeable and supportive, and the curriculum is rigorous, which helps build a solid technical foundation. The campus is peaceful and focused on study, with good laboratory facilities and opportunities for research and technical projects.
What I liked most is the collaborative learning culture among students and the emphasis on practical engineering skills through labs, projects, and competitions.
View moreCUET iss one of the best engineering universities in Bangladesh. The quality of education in this university is good. But there is always room for improvement. The syllabus of mechanical engineering needs to be updated. Some advanced engineering tools including both theoretical and practical knowledge can be incorporated to keep pace with the always evolving engineering world. So overall I would say this is a very good University in the context of Bangladesh and I would recommended it.
