The Civil Engineering program provided a solid technical foundation supported by practical learning opportunities. Courses combined theory with real-world applications, especially in structural analysis, environmental engineering, and design projects. I gained hands-on experience through software tools such as AutoCAD, ETABS, ArcGIS, and laboratory work, which strengthened my analytical and problem-solving skills.
The faculty members were knowledgeable and supportive, particularly in guiding research and design work. Campus organizations and technical activities further enhanced teamwork and leadership skills.
Overall, I would recommend my university (CUET) to students who want a technically strong engineering education with research and practical experience.
I completed my B.Sc. in Civil Engineering from Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology (CUET), and I can confidently say that this institution played a crucial role in shaping my professional career.
CUET is one of the leading public engineering universities in Bangladesh, known for its academic discipline, strong technical curriculum, and research-oriented environment. The civil engineering department, in particular, provides a solid foundation in structural engineering, geotechnical engineering, water resources engineering, and transportation engineering.
What I appreciated most was the balance between theoretical knowledge and practical application. Laboratory works, field visits, project work, and technical assignments helped us understand real-world engineering challenges beyond textbooks.
Currently, I am working in the field of water resources engineering, managing projects related to river training works, embankment protection, hydraulic structures, and canal re-excavation. The knowledge I gained at CUET — especially in hydraulics, hydrology, river engineering, and soil mechanics — directly supports my daily professional responsibilities. Concepts that I studied in classrooms are now part of my practical decision-making in the field.
The university also helped me develop:
Analytical and problem-solving skills
Project management capability
Technical report writing skills
Leadership and teamwork experience
The campus environment is calm and focused, ideal for serious academic growth. Faculty members are knowledgeable and supportive, and the competitive atmosphere encourages students to improve continuously.
For students who are passionate about engineering and want a strong technical base combined with practical exposure, CUET is an excellent choice.
I am proud to be a graduate of CUET, and I truly believe it prepares students not just for a degree, but for a real engineering practice.
I have been a student of CUET.I was in the department of civil engineering. This is undoubtedly the healthiest institution to build both an excellent career and human behaviour.. Its amiable environment will encourage every student to bloom in every aspect.
View moreUniversity environment is very good. But some senior Professors are so much strict that they do not give good marks to students. But here students can learn how to overcome very bad situation and to go ahead. So after graduation, these students can move forward by facing the challenges of the modern world. I could definitely recommend this University.
View moreThe place and environment of Chittagong University of Engineering & Technology are exceptionally natural and scenic—anyone can easily fall in love with the campus. The hills, lake, and lush greenery create a refreshing atmosphere that is highly conducive to focused and enjoyable learning.
In addition, the Department of Civil Engineering is enriched with a comparatively higher number of Professors and Associate Professors. The department consistently produces graduates who demonstrate strong professional competence and perform effectively in practical engineering fields.
However, the average CGPA of the Department of Civil Engineering at Chittagong University of Engineering & Technology is comparatively lower than that of other faculties within the university, as well as Civil Engineering departments at other universities. This grading trend places students at a relative disadvantage in competitive academic and professional environments. A reasonable improvement in CGPA outcomes would help Civil Engineering students of CUET remain more competitive with their peers from other departments and institutions.
Teacher’s should be more precise and student friendly specially civil department. They are very focused about private test rather than own and student research. Need to improve one by one student morality and upholding greater Educational background 1st yr to final and special care whose are less understanding.
View moreCUET life has been one of the most important chapters of my life so far. It is more than just attending classes and earning a degree; it is a journey of personal growth, independence, and self-discovery.
When I first got admission in CUET, I felt both excited and nervous. Everything was new—the environment, the people, and the expectations. Over time, I learned how to manage my responsibilities, balance my academic work, and adapt to challenges. These experiences helped me become more confident and mature.
Academically, CUET has pushed me to think critically and work harder than ever before. Some courses were challenging, but they helped me develop discipline and problem-solving skills. The support from professors and classmates made difficult moments easier to handle.
Socially, CUET life has allowed me to meet different kinds of people and build meaningful friendships. Group projects, campus activities, and daily interactions have improved my communication skills and broadened my perspective on different cultures and ideas.
Of course, university life is not perfect. There are stressful periods, especially during exams and deadlines. However, these challenges have taught me resilience and time management. They have shown me that growth often comes from stepping outside of my comfort zone.
Overall, my CUET life has been a valuable and transformative experience. It has shaped not only my academic knowledge but also my character, preparing me for the future with confidence and determination.
View moreAverage, not up to the mark. Specially in civil dept. Atleast I do think so. Have many bad experiences. Not for everyone but I have faced this throughout my university life. It’s only my personal opinion
View moreI am a Civil Engineering graduate from Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology (CUET). The campus is located a bit far from Chittagong city, but the environment is beautiful and peaceful, which is great for academic focus.
The teachers are highly qualified and maintain strong academic standards, though the grading system is quite strict. Laboratory facilities are good, but there is still room for improvement.
Overall, CUET provides a solid academic foundation in engineering with a disciplined learning environment.
Yes i recommend it.It is student friendly, teachers are always trying to develope the bonding between students,so many scopes for research and innovation.but facilities to students need to be increased such as wifi, canteen etc
