Why are student reviews important?

According to a recent Pulse survey by FindAUniversity, peer insight is a vital element of the university research process.

83% of prospective Master’s students and 81% of Bachelor-level respondents said they consider reviews from current or former students.

Masters Students Read Student Reviews

Reliance on peer reviews is especially prevalent among working-age applicants – 41% of people aged 25–44 said reviews were ‘very important’, compared with 37% of people aged 18–24.

Similar findings have been reported in the Graduate Management Admission Council’s (GMAC) Prospective Students Survey, focusing on graduate management education.

According to the most recent survey, the most significant factor for business applicants when deciding where to study is the quality and overall reputation of a school – two aspects that can’t always be gleaned from first-party information.

As more students incorporate external perspectives from reviews and online discussions into their application decisions, it’s more important than ever that universities cultivate an environment that encourages reviews and feedback.
