Top-tier education and a thriving student life

As an international student, my experience at the university has been nothing short of exceptional, offering a balanced combination of academic excellence and a vibrant student life. From an educational standpoint, the university ranks highly across a range of disciplines and provides excellent facilities for both learning and research. I am a final year student studying law and I particularly love how our learning is structured. My seminars are incredibly interactive and engaging, with a strong focus on vocational knowledge. This has made my academic experience both enriching and practical. The university equips your studies with a range of access to resources, libraries to state-of-the-art research facilities, and the support from academic tutors has been invaluable in guiding me through my coursework. Beyond academics, the social and extracurricular aspects of university life are equally impressive. The campus is dynamic, with numerous clubs, societies, and events catering to a wide array of interests. The Freshers' Fair is a great opportunity to explore these options, and the university’s union hosts regular events, gigs, and social gatherings. As an international student, the multicultural environment has made it easy to connect with people from all over the world, creating a welcoming and inclusive community. The city of Leeds itself adds to the experience – it's vibrant, bustling, and full of opportunities for both social and cultural exploration. The support services at the University are also commendable. From academic guidance to personal well-being, there’s a strong system in place to ensure that students have the resources they need to thrive. Overall, my time at the University has been an enriching blend of top-tier education and a thriving student life. It’s a place where both personal and academic growth are supported, and I would recommend it to any international student looking for a comprehensive, inclusive, and exciting university experience.

very good

Currently having a great time at Swansea. Currently studying history and can say that the lecturers for the most part are very helpful. I do feel the choice is relatively Eurocentric but still good. Good nightlife too.

The Winchester Experience!

The University of Winchester is a great environment to study, work, and socialize. This can be seen by how The University of Winchester values the welfare of its community and students. For instance, the University cares about the environment, and the sustainability of its campus. There are as well many volunteering, campus jobs, and career opportunities, (such as funding for work placements and driving lessons) that the University offers. There is also a vast range of societies, and activities from the Pudding society to the Commuters society. The University of Winchester also ensures that Students concerns are listened too. Especially through schemes such as the Student Fellow Project, Student academic Reps, and Student senate. The University of Winchester is smaller than most universities, so staff can quickly get to know and provide detailed feedback to students. Moreover, it is a shame that a lot of these volunteering, campus jobs, and career opportunities are often badly signposted. Winchester is a beautiful and historically interesting place, but compared with other areas can be quite expensive to live in. There have also been some issues with accommodation e.g. overly sensitive fire alarms that are constantly being set off. However, the University is working on dealing with these issues. Overall, being a student at The University of Winchester has been an amazing experience. I would definitely recommend attending an open day.

Student in 2013

I really enjoyed my time at LCB! I've found that my skills when I entered the work force were much higher than others. I think though there was a big portion missing in recipe development and composition. True- we did learn it through memorizing the recipes, but we really were missing classes on how different ingredients affect the final textures.. how you can change them... etc. That I still am not an expert in .. and I create recipes! Ouf! Also, I don't know if you still do a month of sugar work... but that really wasn't necessary and should be either cut or minimized to just 2 lessons. It's such a niche skill to know that I would have really preferred more technical skills. I loved the old location. The "rumors" I'm getting about the new location are that it's not as good, unfortunately - that i's become more of a money focused/marketing machine. I really hope that this image can be fixed as I love LCB and enjoyed my time there! Oh also - there should be more help for students to get jobs and featuring old students accomplishments - from cookbook launches to new bakeries so that current and old students can support them.
