International Relations

Istanbul University, as one of Turkey’s oldest and most prestigious universities, offers a solid academic environment supported by experienced and dedicated professors. Faculty members are approachable and promote interactive learning, encouraging students to actively participate in lectures, discussions, and academic projects. Campus life is lively thanks to a wide variety of student-run clubs and organizations. These clubs are quite active, providing students with opportunities to engage in cultural, artistic, and professional activities. However, while student clubs are dynamic, the university itself tends to fall short in organizing large-scale campus events such as festivals, concerts, and university-wide gatherings. This lack of institutional events is often seen as a gap in the overall campus experience. In recent years, the university has increasingly emphasized the importance of foreign languages, particularly English. Many programs now offer courses partially or fully in English, and students are encouraged to use English in lectures, presentations, and assignments. Although Istanbul University is not a fully English-medium institution, it is progressively fostering a more bilingual academic environment.

Strong program in medical imaging and robotics

I completed my M.Sc. in Medical Engineering at Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg, and overall it has been a very valuable and enriching experience. The program offers a strong combination of engineering, medical imaging, and data-driven methods. Courses such as MRI, biomedical signal processing, and machine learning provided both theoretical depth and practical exposure. I especially appreciated the balance between physics-based understanding and modern AI techniques. One of the highlights of my studies was the opportunity to work on a hands-on thesis project involving intuitive robot control using EMG and IMU signals. This allowed me to apply concepts like signal processing, machine learning, and robotics control (e.g., Cartesian control and simulation using MuJoCo) to a real-world problem. The university provides good research opportunities, and institutes like AIROB/FAPS offer exposure to cutting-edge robotics and automation projects. Collaboration between disciplines is also a strong point. However, some courses can be quite theoretical, and students may need to take extra initiative to gain more practical or industry-oriented experience. Additionally, navigating administrative processes can sometimes be slow. Overall, I would definitely recommend this program to students interested in medical imaging, biomedical signal processing, robotics, or AI in healthcare. It provides a solid foundation for both research and industry careers.

Challenging but Rewarding

Studying at LAUTECH was a rewarding experience. The lecturers were dedicated and approachable, ensuring that students received both theoretical knowledge and practical exposure. The campus facilities, especially the laboratories and library, were resourceful and conducive to learning. Beyond academics, I gained leadership and interpersonal skills through student organizations and events. What stood out to me at LAUTECH were the engaging classes. They were well-structured, practical, and always connected theory to real-world applications, which made learning more meaningful. The professors at LAUTECH were dedicated and approachable. They not only taught with depth but also mentored students, encouraging us to think critically and push beyond our limits. Campus life at LAUTECH was vibrant and supportive. From student groups to social events, the community provided opportunities for growth outside the classroom. Studying at LAUTECH was a transformative experience. The practical classes, supportive professors, and lively campus environment combined to make my academic journey rewarding and memorable. LAUTECH has shaped me into a confident graduate ready to take on professional challenges, and I highly recommend it to aspiring students.
