Overall the university is good, they have an easy way to apply for extensions on coursework, and special circumstances, which my personal tutor was more than happy to help with, she really was the best. My supervisor for my dissertation was also really supportive and helped through the challenging times. The lecturers are usually helpful if you are stuck, but there were some who would do the bare minimum for the students.
It’s a highly acclaimed school, but it is very stressful and terrible for mental health. The facilities are seriously lacking, and the lecturers seem to be unmotivated sometimes. I cannot blame the lecturers because they work under harsh conditions and have to rush through batches of students. There are no holidays, especially for medical students.
Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT) offers a solid academic foundation, especially in science and engineering fields. The lecturers are knowledgeable and passionate, and I appreciated the strong sense of community among students. Likes: - Affordable tuition - Good academic structure - Dedicated lecturers in some faculties - Strong alumni network Dislikes: - Inconsistent academic calendar - Poor infrastructure and limited resources - Administrative delays - some sexual harassment from some lecturers Would I recommend it? Yes — if you're determined and can adapt to challenges, ESUT will teach you both academics and resilience. However, I’d also encourage future students to be proactive and patient with the system.
I began my programme at Godfrey Okoye university with a discouraged mind because it was not a first choice university. This was because of a number of reasons, one of which was the fact that it wasn't a renowned university and I wasn't aware of the experience of the lectures. My experience at Godfrey was bittersweet because the lectures were totally engaging and demanding. Being a Private University, the issue of strike was totally ruled out. The lectures were organized but some of the lecturers were not friendly. The student life was amazing but at the initial stage; we had the problem of accommodation because there weren't enough rooms for the student. We had so many activities and groups to join which include; literary society, order society e.t.c religious groups. However, we had the problem of management of the hostels and accommodation.
