🌟🌟🌟🌟☆ (4 out of 5 stars)

My experience at the Technical University of Kenya was largely positive. The university offers a hands-on approach to learning, especially in technical and engineering programmes, which helped me build practical skills that I continue to use in my career. The curriculum is well-structured and industry-oriented, and most lecturers are knowledgeable and supportive. The location in the heart of Nairobi is a big plus—easy access to internships, job opportunities, and professional networking events. The university also encourages innovation and project-based learning, which makes the learning experience more dynamic. However, some areas need improvement. Administrative processes can be slow, and facilities like labs or libraries may not always be up to standard or well-equipped. Internet access on campus was also inconsistent at times. Overall, I would recommend TUK to students who are looking for a solid technical education with a practical focus. It's a good option for students who are self-driven and can make the most out of the available resources.

Hands-On and Practical Learning

Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology is one of the best universities in Kenya, as a personal opinion and one that is recommended nationally. I went there first because it was a few kilometres away from home and I wanted the experience of living alone and generally to feel like an adult. It was home away from home, that I even stayed one year later even after graduation. The lecturers were quite tough which was a good thing because I almost didn't graduate because I had missed a few classes. All my practical units that required extra coursework outside class always had the lecturers in attendance even when they didn't have to. My lecturers were very friendly and very practical on what the course I did would translate to once I finished. The security was very good especially for a single female young lady miles away from home. There was plenty of room to study, from parks all around the university, the student centre and the library. You could also easily access help from the administration and get to the staff offices for extra help from our lectures without going through loops. I loved it there and yes, I would recommend it to a family or friend, depending on the course they plan to do. I was an introvert in campus but I remember trying things like rollball, table tennis, pool, drama which are available and active even till date.

University and Friendships

The college experience for me was the greatest platform to create friendships with not only fellow student but with professors too. The university staff was intentional in interacting with students, in class and outside class. The university organized events that made these interactions possible and easy. This was one of the best things in my campus life

A Transformative Experience at Makerere University

I had the privilege of attending Makerere University, and I must say it was a life-changing experience. As one of the oldest and most prestigious institutions in Africa, Makerere University exceeded my expectations in many ways.. The university's rich history and cultural diversity provided a unique and enriching experience. I had the opportunity to interact with students from various backgrounds, broadening my perspectives and understanding of the world. The campus facilities, although not perfect, were generally well-maintained and provided adequate resources for learning and recreation. What I disliked: - The bureaucracy and administrative processes could be slow and frustrating at times. However, this is a common challenge in many institutions, and I learned to be patient and persistent. - Some of the facilities, such as the libraries and laboratories, could benefit from modernization and upgrading. However, the university is continually working to improve its infrastructure. What I disliked: - The bureaucracy and administrative processes could be slow and frustrating at times. Despite some challenges, the university's strengths far outweigh its weaknesses.
