Great Experience

LSE is a great place to create life-long connections and friends. There's a certain sense of community that is special to the university. The staff are hands-on and approachable. The facilities are modern and well-equipped.

The best thing about Sheffield is it is easy to adjust to. When I moved to Sheffield for the first time, I was extremely nervous and worried, but the university offered me much support to help me adjust. On the study, students may have a meeting with our tutor weekly to discuss study progress. I can express any ideas and gain recognition from tutors. If I need some help, I would send emails to my tutor and get replies quickly. Importantly, each tutor would give me feedback after submitting assignments. Furthermore, there are plenty of job opportunities including placements, part-time jobs and internships. You could gain helps and guidance from career advisers, containing profile building and interview performance support. Besides, graduates can also enjoy many services for up to 3 years, such as library admission and job centre support. Sometimes I felt stressed when several assignments were arranged tightly, but eventually, I handled them well and got a great grade. Otherwise, I hope the university can offer more scholarship places to students. In terms of student life, my first impression of Sheffield is cheap in price and convenient for living, compared with most cities in the UK. Students are satisfied with life here. There are many restaurants from different countries, so students can eat food from their own country when they feel homesick. In particular, we could enjoy our meals in the canteens with different styles or cafes on campus. In my mind, our university pays attention to education rather than merely focusing on grades. For example, the student union offers many activities to students, like a day trip, and classes with hobby development. Students are happy to study at the University of Sheffield. In my opinion, our university is very international. Internationalism is put into the heart of everything at Sheffield. The University of Sheffield is engaged in numerous research projects with international impact and has successful research partnerships with leading universities around the world. Besides, we are able to make many friends from different backgrounds. Through my MA study at the University of Sheffield, I have learned a great deal of valuable knowledge and skills. I reach my full potential, understand what my strengths are, and have a clear career framework. All of these cannot separate from the school. I really recommend our university to others.

Semester 1 Review at UoH

I just started Semester 2 at University of Huddersfield and I’m a student currently studying Applied Psychology on a 4 year course. I think most of the lecturers here are really kind and explain concepts very well. The pacing of assignments or tests is also good as there’s always plenty of time to meet deadlines. The student support team is also really great, as well as other amenities that are available on campus to support the students. We are also assigned a personal tutor with whom we can communicate about any issues. Overall, my experience so far at the University is basically perfect, lots of opportunities to meet new people as well which is fun.

Student in 2013

I really enjoyed my time at LCB! I've found that my skills when I entered the work force were much higher than others. I think though there was a big portion missing in recipe development and composition. True- we did learn it through memorizing the recipes, but we really were missing classes on how different ingredients affect the final textures.. how you can change them... etc. That I still am not an expert in .. and I create recipes! Ouf! Also, I don't know if you still do a month of sugar work... but that really wasn't necessary and should be either cut or minimized to just 2 lessons. It's such a niche skill to know that I would have really preferred more technical skills. I loved the old location. The "rumors" I'm getting about the new location are that it's not as good, unfortunately - that i's become more of a money focused/marketing machine. I really hope that this image can be fixed as I love LCB and enjoyed my time there! Oh also - there should be more help for students to get jobs and featuring old students accomplishments - from cookbook launches to new bakeries so that current and old students can support them.
