My time at the UNZA was a memorable experience, and graduating from one of the country’s most recognized institutions was a proud achievement. However, the journey came with its fair share of challenges.
The registration process was often disorganized and frustrating, marked by long queues, slow service, and constant movement from office to office. This inefficiency made what should be a simple process unnecessarily stressful.
Academically, some lecturers were either rarely present or provided minimal instruction, falling short of the quality education expected from such a prestigious institution. Overcrowded classes due to over-enrollment further diluted the learning experience, making it difficult for students to get the support they needed. Living conditions in certain hostels were also poor, with frequent water shortages that the university failed to address. UNZA heavily leans heavily on theoretical learning, often at the expense of creativity and practical skills. As a result, many graduates leave with degrees but limited real-world readiness.
Despite its challenges, UNZA remains a prestigious institution that shapes the future of Zambia. The pride of graduating from such a renowned university is unmatched. While the system may have inefficiencies, the quality of education and opportunities for growth are undeniable. It provides a solid foundation for students to make an impact, both locally and internationally.
