My overall opinion of the University of Zambia is that it offers a truly solid and meaningful academic experience, especially for working professionals. The MBA programme is well-structured, demanding, and deeply connected to real business challenges in Zambia and across Africa. It pushed me to grow academically, professionally, and personally.
What I liked most about the University of Zambia is the quality and dedication of the lecturers. They brought practical experience into the classroom, explained concepts clearly, and showed genuine care for students. Even when I faced major personal challenges including the heartbreaking loss of my baby while still studying, I received understanding and support that helped me stay focused and complete the programme. Balancing full-time work, studies, and grief was extremely difficult, but the supportive learning environment made a real difference.
I also appreciated the flexibility for working students, the diversity of classmates, and the relevance of the coursework. Many of the lessons, leadership skills, and strategic frameworks were immediately applicable to my job.
If there is one thing I disliked, it would be that the workload can feel intense during certain periods, especially when managing a full-time job. However, in hindsight, this challenge strengthened my discipline, time management, and ability to work under pressure skills that have stayed with me.
Would I recommend the University of Zambia?
Absolutely! I would recommend it to anyone looking for a programme that not only builds your academic capabilities but also develops your resilience, confidence, and leadership. This programme shaped me during one of the most difficult seasons of my life, and I am truly grateful for what it helped me become.
My time at the UNZA was a memorable experience, and graduating from one of the country’s most recognized institutions was a proud achievement. However, the journey came with its fair share of challenges.
The registration process was often disorganized and frustrating, marked by long queues, slow service, and constant movement from office to office. This inefficiency made what should be a simple process unnecessarily stressful.
Academically, some lecturers were either rarely present or provided minimal instruction, falling short of the quality education expected from such a prestigious institution. Overcrowded classes due to over-enrollment further diluted the learning experience, making it difficult for students to get the support they needed. Living conditions in certain hostels were also poor, with frequent water shortages that the university failed to address. UNZA heavily leans heavily on theoretical learning, often at the expense of creativity and practical skills. As a result, many graduates leave with degrees but limited real-world readiness.
Despite its challenges, UNZA remains a prestigious institution that shapes the future of Zambia. The pride of graduating from such a renowned university is unmatched. While the system may have inefficiencies, the quality of education and opportunities for growth are undeniable. It provides a solid foundation for students to make an impact, both locally and internationally.
Great university but it needs a reboot, they still use a very old teaching model.hardly enough time is given to practical research and they still make you study irrelevant courses. Physical therapy is supposed to be practical but we hardly had time to be with patients. Too much time was wasted on theoretical learning.
