My experience with the University of Maryland was one of the most meaningful parts of my academic journey. Growing up in a military family, I have always appreciated institutions that genuinely support service members, their families, and those living or working overseas. The university’s commitment to providing accessible, high-quality education to students around the world is something I strongly admire, and it aligns with my own values and patriotism.

While studying through the University of Maryland, I was based at the Yongsan Army Base in Korea. The school gave me the opportunity to take classes face to face, online, and in hybrid formats, which allowed me to continue my education without interrupting my work or my life abroad. This flexibility is incredibly important for anyone who is active-duty, stationed overseas, or working internationally, and it makes earning a degree truly attainable.

I enjoyed the face-to-face classes, but the online courses had the biggest impact on me. They taught me how to build strong study habits, manage my time more effectively, and become fully independent in handling my coursework. I found myself collaborating even more with classmates in the online environment, which helped create a sense of connection despite the distance.

The higher-level classes, many of which were online, were intimidating at first. However, they pushed me to make use of every resource available. I reached out to professors, interacted with peers, and made sure I understood exactly what was expected of me. That experience gave me confidence and helped me grow academically and professionally.

Overall, the University of Maryland provided an outstanding education that adapts to the needs of students around the world. It strengthened my discipline, expanded my skills, and supported me through every step of earning my degree. I am grateful for everything the university offered, especially its support for the military community, and I am proud to stand behind its mission.
