As a Latina first gen student, it was hard to fit in the predominantly white school. However, I joined a multicultural sorority and was able to make a good group of friends. As for the school program, I majored in psychology. The professors I had were wonderful, insightful, and always willing to help. The school is beautiful. President Vaughn spends a lot of money on making the campus look pretty, but not enough spent on housing and parking. Parking is hard to find if you are commuting. Housing on campus is expensive and there isn’t enough for the student body. Seniors get last pick for housing so by your last year there, good luck looking for apartments (which in Tampa and the inflation, it’s hard to do). It’s a fun environment especially if you decide to be really involved in extracurriculars. Work studies are very easy to get, which is good! It’s right in downtown Tampa so there’s so many things to do nearby as well. Tuition is raised every year by the way. Honestly, I loved going to this school. My only complaint would be the housing issue, parking, expensive (but it’s a private university so expected), and not enough diversity in the student population (at least, when I attended).
