I enrolled in a master’s program at the Elliott school of international affairs in 2017. My program (IDS) had about 30 students in a cohort, which was a suitable size for me to get to know everyone. Most students were young professionals with 3-5 years of work experiences in non-profit organizations, UN agencies or government agencies. Almost half of students are Americans while the other half are internationals coming from diverse countries.
Faculty was very knowledgeable and well experienced in various fields. Many professors have work experience in developing countries, so their lectures are mostly practical and they often invite guest speakers who are working in the frontline of international development.
Regarding reputation, GW is well acknowledged in the field of international affairs. I currently work in a UN agency and most people here know the name and say GW is a good university.
That being said, as an alumni, I am very satisfied with my experiences at the GW.
