My experience at San Diego State University was that the first year was overwhelming due to the heavy workload. Professors constantly assigned papers, reviews, and analyses, which could lead to frustration and dislike for classes or instructors. However, by the second year, the pace relaxed, and group projects encouraged independent work. I realized that the university’s approach to education focuses on cultivating a problem-solving mindset, teaching students to think creatively and develop efficient solutions, rather than just providing materials and exams to pass.
