I earned my Bachelor of Arts degrees in History and American Studies and my Master of Arts degree in History from California State University Fullerton, and I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. All of CSUF’s faculty is fantastic, but in particular the faculty in the History and American Studies departments were phenomenal–supportive, engaging, and truly dedicated to their students. Special thanks to Dr. Susie Woo, Dr. Steven Smith, Dr. David Freeman, and Dr. Robert McClain for their incredible teaching and mentorship. CSUF is very affordable tuition-wise, and I worked part-time on campus throughout my studies which was also a great experience. I always felt valued and well-supported by CSUF’s faculty and staff, and always had plenty of resources for anything I needed help with. My only real complaint is the parking–it’s a commuter school, and parking is overcrowded and overpriced. They sell more permits than they have spots, which can be frustrating. That said, I’d still absolutely recommend CSUF in every possible way for its exceptional academics and community. Go Titans!

At the time the level of diversity among both students and degrees offered was impressive, but due to the mismanagement of funds and greater importance placed on lining the (at the time) school president’s pockets than on the students, classes were often over full and many students dealt with full classes come enrollment period, unable to get necessary credits and often pushing back graduation dates. That president has been long since replaced and new programs instated, so I would imagine things have improved in that time.
