Boston University’s School of Education is uniquely positioned to offer students a rare combination: the opportunity to network closely with friendly and caring researchers in a tightly bound community, access to a wide range of research fellowships, clubs and extracurricular activities, and jobs and internships. opportunities in the greater Boston community. While at BU, I was involved off-campus with Boston University’s Literacy Development Program and the Intergenerational Literacy Program, both of which were incredibly influential and helped prepare me to become a teacher. I have also served as a resident assistant on campus, represented the Faculty of Education as a Student Council Senator, and volunteered with the Community Service Center Empowerment Coalition, all of which have been very positive experiences. However, Boston University is a large university and many people, especially students in the College of Arts and Sciences, find it difficult to find community. By being proactive and exploring all that Boston University had to offer and being involved in many organizations during my freshman year, I was able to develop relationships with professors and other students that I still value today. It wasn’t my first choice when I originally applied, but it turned out to be the perfect choice for me! “
