With encouraging professionals and mentors always willing to offer their support and a huge range of societies allowing you to easily conform, I could define my experience as an international student of Plymouth University to be amazing. And I couldn’t not mention that Plymouth is an ocean city with beautiful sunsets, which always allows you to clear your mind and boost your energy!
View moreClasses were challenging but not damaging to my confidence. The courses allowed me to seek different avenues to solve a problem instead of taking the standard approach. The extracurricular activities were also very fulfilling.
Overall, great program.
I was perusing a degree in Supply Chain and Logistics and I felt Plymouth was the right university that could meet my requirements. Honestly, it did beat my expectations in terms of the curriculum and scheduled review meetings with the batch.
View moreI am a First-Year student studying at Plymouth University. What I personally found here is it is a small community for you to get to know everyone. Teachers are supportive and fast responding when you have any questions. Due to the size of the course, you can easily have one to one discussions in or out of your sessions.
What I found most useful is all course contents are informed early and uploaded on DLE for students to get prepared, additional lectures sessions are all recorded for you to rewatch.
However, the workloads are a massive jump from A-level to University. And Independent and self-learn are highly required and I have a chance to develop now.
Plymouth University, so far, has been an amazing place to stay. It’s a student city; everyone is super friendly. It’s hard being away from home, but the environment in Plymouth starts to feel like a home away from home. My foundation year is fantastic, a comfortable transformation from A level to university. You have guidance all the way. My course is particularly special; the foundation year is joined with the medicine Foundation, dental therapy foundation, and radiography foundation, including the biomedical science foundation. You start to appreciate interprofessional learning and that every department all play a crucial role together. I would 100% recommend Plymouth University to a student; it’s such a lovely place.
View moreThe programme I’m doing is I guess one of the best in the world and Plymouth university is well reputed for that programme as well. The balance between theory and practical is well maintained and the facilities are well good. I would recommend this course absolutely.
View moreVery supportive team, very intense training, and definitely worth the money spent. My course leader was always there willing to help and support me when I most needed it. The lectures were highly qualified and enthusiastic.
View moregreat location and facilities.
but poor management of our course which put us under pressure. One of the lecturers didn’t turn up for 2nd term, turns out they had left the previous year and the uni had no replacement sorted. therefore, we were behind with lecturers and had less time to complete assessments.
View moreThe course that I started in September 2019 is a new course. Because of this, there is a lot of teething issues. The course offers an incredible opportunity but because it’s so new, a lot of things seem to be changing; very often at the last minute. There have also been issues with timetabling, but often that is just down to technology. Also, there have been issues and confusion surrounding the reimbursement of travel and accommodation costs. We have, as a cohort, been told a lot of different information from different individuals, resulting in stress when trying to organise ourselves financially. Apart from that, it is amazing. The staff are incredible and attentive and really listen to your problems, questions and queries.
View moreThe University of Plymouth is one of the post-1994 facilities for further education within the country. You may have heard of its environmental advocation or its establishment as one of the top universities within the country, having placed 2nd within the top 10. The reality is however that like all universities, it is a business. And at the end of the day, it needs to ‘sell itself’ in order to try and attract as many students as possible. The staff and lecturers are mostly friendly, but in my course, most of the seminars and lessons can feel rather lacking. In particular, there can be some times where you may find that the whole module fails to make you think either introspectively or that it doesn’t equip you with the needed skills to stand out more in the long-term outlook of job hunting. The student community is highly diverse, yet there’s a sense that there’s little to do within the campus. A lot of societies have a sense of overlap with one another and there’s not enough range or that they feel too niche for you within the faculties. Even if there’s an emphasis on community, the overall lack of flexibility within the Student Unions’ Society can leave you with a feeling of disconnection that makes you feel isolated. Thus, while the location can be appealing to those who have a genuine love for the tranquil, I would honestly recommend that you look elsewhere especially if your predicted grades are better than whatever the requirements the university has.
