The University of Manchester is a “different place”. I mean this in a good way. This is a place full of opportunities for you to work in many different activities and projects, besides your academics. Overall, the engineering degrees offer a structure that aims to immerse and teach students about new technologies and how they are being used in the today’s industries. Particularly, Mechanical Engineering is well designed course that allows students to learn from other engineering degrees, such as: Electrical Engineering and Materials Engineering. However, there are not enough computer programming courses, which are currently becoming more important in today’s industry. In terms of social and activities, The University of Manchester offers a wide variety of volunteer and work activities, such as: working at the museum or with the library team. Moreover, Manchester is one of the universities with the most societies in the UK. Therefore, the opportunities are limitless. Nevertheless, if you do not find something for you, the university allows you to form our own society y following very simple steps. Student accommodation is not very different from other universities. The university equips their rooms with all the basics. Do not expect anything luxurious or very modern. Overall, I would recommend The University of Manchester. Even more if you are applying to an engineering or science course.
