    Business Management Review

I like that there is a lot of support and help in the course and that I can ask my lecturers to help with anything. They understand that university is hard and that mental health is also a massive struggle for a lot of people while at university. I don’t like that there isn’t a lot of motivation for going into university and the way they handled the covid period where we were going in then not going in and it’s very uneasy for a lot of people and really hard to then motivate yourself to go into uni when we were able to go back in and I feel like there should have been more support on that.

The facilities of Solent University are really good. The classes are new with good equipment. The classes are easy to be found and even if you need help you can ask anyone and they’ll help you out. A great university.

    Steps into business world

I am a second-year student at Solent University. Due to COVID our first year was completely remote now changing into blended learning. I must say given that is a university in England you would expect English tutors and teachers rather than full foreigners. Putting this aside they know what they are doing and definitely love their job. The majority of modules are very helpful and I love that they put emphasis on self-development and reflection as well, rather than superficial calculations and maths.

I want to highlight the incredible campus of Solent University.

The management of Southampton Solent University has managed to provide to all of us students an incredible environment for studying, development and recreation as well. The university is located at the center of the beautiful city of Southampton which provides the perfect opportunity to live and work near the campus and all the essential buildings you will need to go to. So far I have been amazed by the exceptional setting including the exterior and the internal design of the premises. We can clearly see that they have invested a tremendous amount of money to develop two of the latest additions to the campus – The Spark Building that provides contemporary lecture and seminar rooms, common areas and cafes along with The Sports Complex Building which includes three different gyms and two giant sports halls where the “Solent Kestrels” basketball team trains and plays. The staff has been amazingly helpful from the very beginning until now. As a Business Management student, I usually have my lectures in the Sir James Matthews Building which is where the Business, Law and Communications School is located. This building finds its place two minutes away from the main one. This building is home to the very popular Artisan Cafe which serves amazing coffee as well as delicious award-winning food to students, staff, and members of the public. My Business Management course is built around numerous subjects which are covered during those three years. From Accounting to Consultancy and Economics this course provides many interesting and essential areas to focus on. The only drawback for me is the short period of time that we have in order to complete them however the university lecturers and tutors make their best to help us and give us enough time to prepare. An area that I think not only me but many students enjoy going is the Mountbatten Library which is a 5-floor university library with the incredible resources available to us. On exam session periods there is a very useful and helpful option provided by the Solent Students’ Union which is a free taxi service to all Solent Accommodations along with extra locations covered around the university which guarantees all students are going back home safely. There are many fairs and exhibitions that take place in Solent which help us develop ourselves and find future companies and industries to work in. It’s amazing to be aware of so many extracurricular events and activities because this way you are able to build your network of friends and business partners and gain crucial insight about what to expect. A big opportunity for all that would like to start their own business is the Solent Enterprise Grant that gives up to £10 000 for innovative business ideas that get accepted. Not only this but the university provides also scholarships and awards for academic and sports achievements which is an amazing support to us. As a student in the university of the year for 2019, I think Southampton Solent would be a great choice for everyone who wants to study in a competitive and supportive environment full of different cultures and backgrounds.
