The University does an exceptional job of providing genuine and valuable knowledge to students, delivered by knowledgeable and capable professors, with an outstanding campus and resources.

I studied English and Linguistics at the University and found the course content to be engaging and useful, with any support and guidance both in and out of the classroom easy to access. The student union is the best in the country, a wonderful place to spend time, connect with others who share your passions and find all the resources you might need. The various libraries have fantastic collections, with new books easy to request, and with most of them available digitally for easy access. They also provide a great place to study.

The University has a large international student body, with international study opportunities, and language courses available to everybody. Plus, there are societies for every possible interest and activity.

I am doing a master in Cultural data management & communication and after one semester of the course, I find myself enjoying our programme to a certain extent. This programme is new this year and I find it very interesting as it combines digital media and communication to a certain extent, taking into account both theory and practice.

Through talking to my classmates and teachers, I realized that communication is a really important thing. In class, we need to communicate with our group members to ensure that tasks are carried out and completed. Outside of class, we need to communicate more with our teachers, not only to ask them questions about studies, but we can talk to them about our career prospects and lives after school, just like friends.

I think the school provides us with pretty good facilities, the 24-hour library is one of the most user-friendly options – for those night owl students like me. Also, the school provides a platform for us to give feedback, for example, for an optional course last semester, I thought that the course’s length and assessment settings were a bit unreasonable and I would give feedback to the school department in time. You can see a fair amount of side by side comparisons on our courses like examples from other cultures, which are certainly international.

I’m very willing to recommend the programme to others. Not only because I think the course content is very useful and it will help us in our future career in media and data management, but also because it is a nice place to live in Sheffield. The comparison shows that the prices are relatively low and accommodation is good value for money, which takes a lot of the burden off. The city is not too big and is great for weekend trips around to relax.

Finally, as far as my future career plans are concerned, I have a very strong desire to work at the university, I enjoy the learning atmosphere on campus and I am always ready to share my experiences to help others. I have come to realize that good communication is the key to everything, whether it is in the study, work or life, communication helps you to do your tasks better and make more friends.

The University of Sheffield provides exceptional quality of teaching, a multitude of opportunities for extra-curricular activities and has a great network of Pastoral care services. Over my 4 years at the university, I have always felt supported by lecturers and academic staff and able to access support that is tailored to the needs of each student.

During my time at the University of Sheffield I had a really positive experience both within an academic setting as well as every other aspect of university life. First of all, my course was really interesting and lived up to my expectations. I had the opportunity to study a range of topics such as French literature and Latin American music. The opportunity to spend my year abroad in South America and Switzerland was definitely the highlight of my degree. Outside of my studies, Sheffield offered a wide range of activities and opportunities to take part in different projects. The enormous quantity of societies to choose from means that there is something for everyone, personally I had the chance to be the president of the Hispanic society and I also participated in an exchange to Nicaragua to teach English. I also participated in sports such as Netball and Zumba which was really important in order to maintain a balance between studying and staying active, something that the University promoted and made accessible to all students. The ‘we are international’ slogan the University boasts means that the atmosphere is really multi-cultural and vibrant. Overall, I would recommend the University of Sheffield to anyone looking for a well-rounded university experience with the chance to become a confident individual.
