Portsmouth Business School’s teaching and research programmes cover 6 subject areas – Accounting and Financial Management, Economics and Finance, Marketing, Operations and Systems Management, Organization Studies and Human Resource Management as well as Strategy, Enterprise and Innovation. The School aims to provide the necessary expertise to its students to prepare them for their professional careers and also develops their entrepreneurial spirit.

Teaching is delivered by academic experts with a lot of professional and research experience. Portsmouth Business School has integrated the use of Rapid MOCC technology as part of the teaching process, which enables staff to deliver presentations and videos using a green screen. The teaching and learning process generally involves the use of digital technologies, such as video and online materials, in order to give students the flexibility to work using methods that are most comfortable for them and at the most suitable time for them.

The School places a lot of emphasis on experiential and active learning. This is why it provides opportunities for students to participate in real-world client projects, such as the Business Consultancy Project, which final-year students undertake to solve real-world business problems using the skills acquired throughout their studies at university. Portsmouth Business School also offers apprenticeship degrees, such as an MBA in Strategic Leadership, which allow students to study and work at the same time, enabling them to gain the required knowledge and practical skills.

Campus & Student Life

The University’s campus is located in Portsmouth. Everything in the city is within walking distance, which creates great comfort for students. Portsmouth is also famous with its 4 miles of beaches and plenty of green spaces. In addition, the city has great transport links, which allow students to take trips to other parts of the UK and explore their desired destinations easily. Students who decide to join the University will always have something to do in Portsmouth thanks to its galleries, museums, comedy nights, late night cafes and many opportunities to watch various sports live, ranging from water sports to football.

Students can choose whether to live in the University’s halls of residence or rent in the city.

The University’s Students’ Union (UPSU) offers more than 150 clubs and societies, which students can join to improve their skills, meet new people and enjoy new experiences. The clubs and societies on campus cover sports (24 sports clubs), culture, politics, gaming, faith and a lot more. The University even has its own Quidditch Club, which is definitely something you don’t want to miss.

The University’s graduate employment rates are among the highest in the UK, which indicates that it truly prepares students for professional success. Portsmouth Business School collaborates with international businesses and other organizations to provide students with opportunities for placements, projects (such as the final-year Business Consultancy Project) and degree apprenticeships, where they could gain professional experience and get a feel of the real-world business environment. Students have the chance to not only be part of but actually work on real-world client projects, take volunteering roles and gain work experience locally and internationally. They can also network with experts and alumni or attend employability workshops.
