It is safe to say that university of Manchester iis the highlight of my whole life. That is a big statement since my time there intersected with some of the worst times in my personal life. That along side with being in a foreign country away from anyone I know, lets just say this equation can quiet easily lead to a bad time. However, UoM’s expereince was honestly a saving grace for me. with amazing people (both collegues and faculty) I neverfelt more at home despite not being at home. I can honestly say that I got more support in UoM than i would expect and then some. I am extremely satisfied my education in this fine institute and would consider my fees (which were quiet expensive) well spent. However, you might have noticed an astrix in my title statement. That little symbol is there because of a major failing of a University i.e. its ability to further my career. Though not completely Uni’s fault, as i consider it just bad luck that socio-political situation in UK and my home country of pakistan were a major factors, but still its a hard pill to swallow for me and many of my classmates that overtime in the uni did not lead to a significant bump in our careers, and in many cases led to hurting it.
However, it is my personal ethos that education on its own has more value for me than the monetary gains it leads to. As such, I consider my time in University of Manhcester highlight.
