My master’s programme is only two semesters long. But the remaining six months are fully devoted to the dissertation programme. I often go to the UCL campus to write my dissertation because the student centre really has a more academic atmosphere than the dorm rooms.

The university and societies provide all kinds of opportunities so that I can do anything I want to do. Plenty of free time enables us to explore different things and meet different people. Professors are willing to provide assistance.

The campus is very new and spacious but the lecture rooms are too small for many students. There is plenty of space for free discussion but it would be better to have more individual discussion rooms. The online learning experience is not very participative and limited to superficial knowledge, it would be better to have more site visiting.

The HereEast campus offers a lot of space for free discussion and is great for small group study and group discussions to work together on class assignments, but the classrooms are quite small and can be crowded during lectures.
Studying online during an epidemic reduces the risk of spreading the disease and is also unaffected by factors such as weather, but there are many limitations; you may not be able to communicate effectively with the teacher, you may easily slip away to do other things, you may not be able to concentrate, and you may lack the practical experience.

The HereEast campus is not very conveniently located and the classroom space is small. The offline classes are too crowded, the classrooms are often full and there is little space between seats and tables. The online experience is not good as it is a mixed online and offline model.
However, it is worth noting that the future trend is to drive the whole eastern area, so it should be better in the future.

The campus is quite nice but rather homogeneous, nothing but classrooms, no learning atmosphere and lacking the campus feel compared to the main campus. I have been to the student centre on the main campus a few times before. The facilities and everything are very new and rival the East Campus, but the learning atmosphere is much better.

The UCL here east campus is not large, but the campus facilities are relatively complete, providing a variety of school places, such as sofas, open discussion areas, long tables, independent conference rooms and independent study rooms…

The most special thing is this independent study room. I have never seen such an architectural space. It is so cool for a person to self-isolate in it!

As for online classes, I think there are both good and bad aspects. For example, some students may have some difficulties in language, and this online method can use the platform to see the real-time subtitles of the teacher’s lecture; this is very challenging for some group assignments or discussions.

My current major is at UCL HereEast East Campus. The location of the east campus is too far from the city center, and the transportation is inconvenient; there are too few restaurants and entertainment businesses around, and the motivation to go to school is insufficient; it is boring to attend classes all the time in the same classroom; perhaps because of the bias, the guest speaker chooses to give speeches online. Online classes are very convenient, but if there is little interaction between teachers and students or the interaction is boring, it is no different from watching recording; no supervision is not conducive to allowing everyone to devote themselves to group discussions, and more people choose to be silent. But the new campus environment is still very good!

One of the world’s leading academic institutions, the overall layout of the Here East campus is very cohesive with a regular distribution of majors. In contrast to other programmes, Learning Environments seems to focus more on student self-management and the planning of time for part-time students, with courses planned as one week of study and two weeks off. This allows students to study on their own and complete their dissertations better outside of class time, but spreading out their studies over time can cause inertia in less self-controlled students, making it difficult for them to fully engage with the course during class. I believe that the class times and the distribution of teaching modes could be better planned to better integrate online and face-to-face learning.
