    MSc Management and Strategy

Pros: Networking opportunities, academically challenging programme (intensive 1 year)

Cons: Limited campus life, tiring to commute, apply for jobs and study, undergrads tend to have an advantage (3 year programmes)

    Awful

Very poor lecturing throughout my degree programme, inconsistent grading, expensive fees for few contact hours, out of touch careers service, slow to respond to COVID, and so on. There are so many negatives that given the price of the degree should not be here. If you are studying with international students, be prepared to spend most of your time editing their poor English ability, as LSE does not interview these people before admitting them. You are paying for a reading list and brand name, that is all.

    Good learning environment.

It is a good learning environment. However, quality of students in some programs seems to be deteriorating. Hard to explain why. Facilities need some help. Good professors. If you work hard it’s a good school.

LSE is top for academic delivery and careers support

LSE can help you in getting top-notch education and in connecting with some of the smartest professors in your field. Furthermore, you will have the chance to participate in an enormous amount of talks and events with high-level people in fields like government, politics and business. Finally, not only LSE is 2nd Best School in the World for Social Sciences and Management but also the career support at LSE it’s excellent and by studying in this university, your employability opportunity will be higher! Definitely recommend it!

    Student satisfaction

The teaching here is very rigorous – just as you would expect. The courses cover a lot of material that can be challenging but that’s why LSE is such a reputed university. There’s a broad range of activities you could take part in and a lot of degrees usually also have choices for the courses they pick for the year. However, I think the way the courses we taught could be improved. Sometimes you might not be fully prepared for what comes in the exam.

    Wonderful academics, mediocre teaching

Whilst the academic community is exceptionally strong in terms of research and there is a certain sophistication in how the academics operate their research, I would recommend the school for Masters and PhD programs rather than undergraduate programs as the campus culture and student body life is mediocre and leaves international students in particular alienated.

High-quality academics and excellent career prospects

I overall enjoyed my experience at LSE. The many student societies and sports clubs offer a wide range of events and opportunities, where everyone can find something that interests her/him. The student community is also extremely diverse and relatively inclusive. Academically, the professors are often well known academic scholars who are experts in their fields, although the actual teaching is not always great. LSE is however a very career-minded university and you will find a lot of students who will focus on their career goals and prioritise them over their course or extra-curricular activities, especially in courses like Economics, Finance, or Law. This can be a good thing, as it will help you prepare for your professional career, but if you are not so career-minded, you will easily find friends who share your interests. Finally, the only major criticism I have about LSE, is that they don‘t offer re-sits for exams. This can be an issue especially if you fall sick during the exam period. If a student is unable to attend two exams (e.g. due to illness), then she/he will have to re-take these courses in the following year, causing them to lose a full year of their life. However, it seems like LSE is planning to introduce re-sits in the years to come, hopefully eliminating this problem.

    Great People and Opportunities

I strongly recommend the LSE to people who want to be stretched and developed. It certainly is not for the faint hearted and high stress levels are to be expected, but this is ideal preparation for people who aspire to work in high pressure environments. The teaching is better than at some other Universities, but expect Masters Students to teach, especially in first/second year of your undergraduate. Some teachers could certainly improve on teaching, but that is the tradeoff for learning from leading academics in their fields. The lessons I learnt from my academic and extracurricular experiences are certainly beneficial in day to day interactions, and the friends that I made at the LSE, be it through Sports, my course or the accommodation, will last for a lifetime. The LSE, through the SU, offers a tremendous amount of opportunities and you can definitely find people that share your interests. Your life as a student at the LSE really depends on your involvement and what you put in. You make your experience at the LSE! In the 3 years I have been there, I saw LSE improve by a lot, and I will be excited to return in the future! The Library is still getting some controversy, as there are only a limited number of seats, but gernerally I have been impressed by the steps LSE has taken to improve student satisfaction! Studying and living in the heart of London definitely has spoilt me for my postgraduate and I still have London in my heart. I love its internationality, allvthe opportunities and the fact that something is always happening. In my first years I lived in Bloomsbury, in Passfield hall (best hall ever, location and size wise!) and in my last year I have fallen in love with Angel.

    Career Hub

LSE is a career hub. It prepares you to step onto the job market from the moment you join LSE. Everyone is crazy about landing spring internships in the first year, and summer internship and graduate jobs in subsequent years. Due to this career-focused mindset that almost everyone at LSE has, career prospects are great, with more than 80% of students securing a graduate job within 6 months of graduation (statistics from LSE internal database). ____Aside from that, LSE is a very international university with more than 70% of students comprising of international students, which is the 3rd highest in the whole world (according to THE University Ranking). Due to this high ratio of international students, the student life is great as you get to experience different cultures and meet with students from various backgrounds. ____Location of LSE is perfect, in the central heart of London, with an excellent transportation system in place. However, the campus itself is very small (since it is in Central London – I assume the real estate is extremely overpriced) and it doesn’t give a feeling of so called “campus” like most U.S. universities do (even UCL has a campus!). ____Lectures in general, are very informative, but lecturers lack passion about their subject and often read off the powerpoint slides. There are some really good lecturers and class teachers though, so make sure you do thorough research on your module before choosing a module. Best advice would be to reach out to students from previous years. ____Overall, LSE is an amazing university (I mean its reputation is), and since we want jobs (as students), attending LSE will give you an edge to be competitive in the job market.
