Kampala International University is the leading private university in. Uganda. It has a diverse community which encourages diversity and inter relations with people from different countries. The lectures are very strict on their work and assignments. The university has two campuses and the Kampala campuse is quite crowded which becomes an issue for me but all in all, yes I would recommend to someone.
View moreIt’s a very good international university that has attracted a variety of students, and have got various programs for students. For example morning program, afternoon program, evening program and weekend program without forgetting online teaching.
This university being owned by a Moslem, he allowed all religions to.pracrice theirs faith by reservation of rooms for such religious sects and also allowing religious leaders to enter the premises.
I like the the good environment, the structures, the lecturers where he consider masters and above, but also have allow good performers to study as they act as assistant lectures which is not in other private universities.
The dislike is that, it’s politically selective where it allows the people who support the ruling government and it has been open clear.
Yes I would recommend this university for excellent academic giants most of students in law and medicine are highly a joy cake.
Secondly, it has built radio stations at the university to assist students in mass communication. He has established a court in the university for law students hence court compites the first universities.

View moreKampala International University Western Campus offers a unique learning atmosphere, now in my third year pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Science., I have experienced both the strengths and challenges of studying here.
One of the most rewarding aspects of KIU Western Campus is the engaging learning environment. Lecturers provide thorough explanations, often giving one-on-one sessions that leave students confident in their understanding. This personalized approach fosters a deeper grasp of complex subjects. Additionally, the teaching hospital allows ample time for practical experience, ensuring students gain hands-on skills that are vital in medical laboratory sciences. The university has built a solid reputation as the first private institution in Uganda to consistently produce competent graduates, which adds to its credibility.
Despite the strong academic experience, the university’s digital systems need significant enhancement. For instance, the student portal is unreliable, making it difficult to access academic results. Instead of checking grades online, students must visit their respective Heads of Department for manual verification, which is both time-consuming and inefficient. Similarly, tuition payments do not reflect immediately after transactions. Students must physically queue at the finance office to get their balances cleared, an unnecessary hurdle in an era where digital processing should be seamless.
Another challenge is the demanding lecture schedule. Classes run from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM, leaving students mentally drained by the time they attend the last session of the day. This extended schedule negatively impacts concentration and information retention, making it difficult for students to stay fully engaged throughout.
Despite its flaws, I would still recommend the university. KIU Western Campus remains a solid choice for students pursuing law, business, engineering, education, agriculture and other healthcare-related courses. The quality of education is strong, with lecturers who genuinely ensure students understand their coursework. The university’s focus on practical learning through its teaching hospital is a major advantage, allowing students to apply their knowledge in real-world medical settings. Furthermore, KIU has an established reputation for producing competent graduates, making it a respected institution in the country, but prospective students should be prepared for the operational challenges.
Kampala International University Western Campus offers a well-structured academic environment with excellent teaching and practical opportunities. However, improvements in administrative processes particularly digital services would significantly enhance student convenience and academic efficiency.
