I have really enjoyed my time at the University of Amsterdam! I studied Media and Culture between 2021 and 2024. The first year of the course, each student is assigned a mentor. I found this to be very helpful, as it can be overwhelming to navigate the start of a new programme.
After this year, in my opinion the guidance at the university was not very proactive. For questions, students can approach study advisors, but they are often hard to reach. However, the course is very clearly structured, so it is quite easy to navigate the studies.
The programme is quite general and broad, but most of the courses offer multiple options and themes for students to choose from. In this way, students are able to specify and explore their interests within the programme. Because of this, I really feel like I could make the most of my studies!
