The coursework is challenging, but it is also incredibly engaging, and I have found myself learning new things every day. Furthermore, the lecturers are all experts in their fields, and they bring their real-world experience to the classroom. The university’s facilities are brand new, and there are plenty of resources available to students.
The programmes at ESHCC are well-structured and the professors are always available to answer questions and provide guidance. It is challenging, but it is also incredibly rewarding, and it has provided me with the skills and knowledge I need to succeed in my future career.
View moreI love how not only my course, but the community Erasmus builds for internationals is amazing. Everyone is super open and there’s so many activations and events to help us meet other internationals- this has made coming to the Netherlands a lot easier and made it feel like home!
View moreErasmus University Rotterdam is a great place to study for both Dutch students but also internationals (like myself). I think the combination of the city, people, and university itself, make it a great place to study. I studied there during 2017-2020 and did the Bachelor in Communication and Media (IBCOM)
The university is located in Rotterdam; a modern city 40 minutes away from Amsterdam. The city has a great vibe; hipster, international, and quite modern compared to other Dutch cities. The city is filled with great bars, nice restaurants, and cozy cafes/brunch places. I do have to say the biggest downfall is the weather as it rains a lot and it is very windy. However, when the sun is out Rotterdam has great parks and terraces for a beer.
One of the best things in the university is the people you meet. There is people from all over the world which make the atmosphere even better. You will make friends from different backgrounds and countries.
The majority of the faculties are all located in the main campus which is beautiful; the university has a large library and two modern and new study buildings full of light. Some residences for first year students are also located there which makes it easy to meet people.
Overall, programs are well structured and planned and teachers have very impressive backgrounds. Classes and lectures are top quality. Although the system is quite hard and challenging, especially for certain programs.
From my experience I would highly recommend this university, I can say with certainty that it is a great place to study and make friends. I personally had the best three years of my life.
View moreI‘ve been studying the international bachelor of communication and media for a little over half a year now and I really like it so far. The course is by far one of the most international courses in the Netherlands, with classrooms filled with students from all over the world. The teachers also are from various different countries and some of them have even worked for big names in the media industry, such as CNN and they often give anecdotes to give you an idea of where you might end up one day. The course is very interesting and covers topics from sociology, communication psychology, but also scientific research methods. Even though Erasmus tried to implement opportunities for creative work, such as the design of campaigns, the course is very focused on research and science. You will need to do a lot of readings on the theory and most of us would love to do more creative assignments such as the production of media. Nevertheless, I still really enjoy the course and would recommend it to everyone who’s interested in working in the field of media. One big drawback about studying in Rotterdam is the housing situation. There is not a lot of affordable student housing, so I would really advise anyone who’s considering studying here to start looking very early in the year. I’ve even heard about people who stayed in hotels for months and instead of building a student housing building the university decided to build yet another study space and a new sports building. The campus of Erasmus is very big and has amazing modern facilities with various restaurants.

This bachelor’s has to be one of the most international ones at Erasmus and The courses are fairly easy. Classes and lectures are taken all over campus the first year so you get a good feel of the environment and study spaces. As for the gym and study spaces, always get your spot on time and go in the weirdest times possible because it’s ALWAYS FULL!!! The campus is clean and easy to navigate but if you ever get lost everyone is friendly and would definitely help you. Professors can be hit or miss, but their English is great and they’re always open to answering questions or clarifying things.
I really enjoyed my programme and feel like I learned a lot in just 3 years. The thing I liked the most about it was being able to choose your path along the way (e.g., choosing specific subjects related to your interests) as this gives you the opportunity to grow and learn more about that field of work.
