Erasmus University Rotterdam is a great place to study for both Dutch students but also internationals (like myself). I think the combination of the city, people, and university itself, make it a great place to study. I studied there during 2017-2020 and did the Bachelor in Communication and Media (IBCOM)
The university is located in Rotterdam; a modern city 40 minutes away from Amsterdam. The city has a great vibe; hipster, international, and quite modern compared to other Dutch cities. The city is filled with great bars, nice restaurants, and cozy cafes/brunch places. I do have to say the biggest downfall is the weather as it rains a lot and it is very windy. However, when the sun is out Rotterdam has great parks and terraces for a beer.
One of the best things in the university is the people you meet. There is people from all over the world which make the atmosphere even better. You will make friends from different backgrounds and countries.
The majority of the faculties are all located in the main campus which is beautiful; the university has a large library and two modern and new study buildings full of light. Some residences for first year students are also located there which makes it easy to meet people.
Overall, programs are well structured and planned and teachers have very impressive backgrounds. Classes and lectures are top quality. Although the system is quite hard and challenging, especially for certain programs.
From my experience I would highly recommend this university, I can say with certainty that it is a great place to study and make friends. I personally had the best three years of my life.
