    A Flexible but emanding University

UNED is a good option if you need flexibility while studying. It requires a lot of self-discipline since most of the learning is independent, but the academic level is solid. Overall, it’s a serious and well-respected university, especially suitable for motivated students.

Great university to study from home.

Great teachers, great communication and great online platform. Maybe the content is a little bit outdated but that is okey. They have total flexibility to study from home. Great uni to study and work at the same time.

    Ups and downs

What I love about the UNED is its flexibility and that you generally only take one exam per subject, not having to waste so much time per week on assignments, which makes it perfect to combine with work or other obligations. What I like less is that passing the subject usually consists of studying a single huge manual (550 plus pages) and then taking a multiple-choice exam, which I think does not encourage too much to have the necessary skills to perform as a real professional (perhaps much more focused on continuing in academia). In any case, they continue to update their methods, technologies and didactic strategies.

Lot of freedom, but you can get lost

UNED gives you a lot of freedom, which is great if you’re self-motivated. But honestly, passing can be harder than at a regular in-person university. I’d definitely recommend doing the suggested activities, even if they’re not mandatory—they really help you understand the material.

If you’re someone who likes asking questions or prefers not to do a lot of independent research, this might not be the best fit. Professors can take a long time to reply—or sometimes don’t reply at all—and unlike other universities, there aren’t recorded classes you can watch later.
