The SKY of the sky, a phrase I heard often throughout my freshman year, albeit, mainly through my academic advisor and occasionally the dean. For anyone not familiar, SKY is an abbreviation for the top universities of Korea – Seoul National, Korea, and Yonsei University. Although my program (Underwood International College) that likes to very much emphasize the international part, it often times feels anything but. Yes, the classes are held in English, however there is a lack in effort or support for the international student body. A student body who is often 18-19 year old, whom left their country for their first time, are lost in a new country, and frequently unfamiliar with the language. Of course, students bare some responsibility, you’ve chosen to come to a new country with no basic understandings if their language, but beyond this, there are still many obstacles to overcome that students are not supported on. Don’t get me wrong though, now about to enter my senior year, I’m happy with my time here, but there been many many hardships of which I’ve had to overcome on my own. I guess the bright side is the independence it forces you to develop.

Being able to join the strong and diverse community of a top-notch Korean and global university is an immense privilege. The status and reputation are only two of the enormous amount of values that this institution carries: the campus and location are absolutely gorgeous, special lecture and abroad experience will change your mindset and future forever, constant support and scholarship availability are just perfect. Needless to say, the workload and effort required to get to the top is big and challenging, but absolutely worth it and helpful for anyone’s future work carrier. I definitely recommend you to give it a try: this could be the turning point in your life!
View moreYonsei University is a place, where a student can develop as a person, make his life choices and learning to be independent. Professors, not always, but usually interact with students, give feedback and actually trying to teach you something new, which wasn’t covered at school. Also, Yonsei is unique for its Akaraka parties, student community and really energetic student life. It has one of the most beautiful campuses in Korea and is separated into two campuses: Sinchon and Songdo, both are great and unique.
View moreA top ranking university in South Korea. Yonsei University is a dream to be in. The moment you walk into the university you’d be welcomed by the sight of students conversing on every nook of the university. The lush green campus is quite a positive ambience for us to relax and enjoy the walk. The hygiene around the university is quite commendable. The management is always on alert for the needs of the students. Even though the courses here are very straining, they bring out the best in you. Feather, if you’re a student from abroad! Learning Korean is a must for you to survive here. Everything to be studied or even most of the interactions you’ll have will be in Korean. So if you’re someone with a passion to learn this language, you’ll slide through ease.
View moreI am an international student studying at Yonsei University. It’s an intense institution and the courses are challenging. Catching up with lectures can get difficult if your Korean is not very strong. Even if you are fluent in the Korean language according to TOPIK (Korean proficiency test), academic Korean is very different, and it can feel frustrating and emotionally exhausting. On the brighter side, professors and TAs are very helpful and answer questions patiently in class or through email. The university is challenging but rewarding and there are lots of opportunities to get scholarships. Lots of internship opportunities and chances to study abroad as exchange students are also available.
