Nelson Mandela University provided me with a strong academic foundation and valuable practical exposure, particularly in applying theory to real-world and community-based challenges such as water and sanitation. The programme was demanding, but it helped me develop important skills including problem-solving, teamwork, discipline, and adaptability. While transitioning into industry requires initiative, the university equips committed students with the knowledge and experience needed to build a successful professional career.
While I value the practical approach of assignments, I would recommend increased structured teaching time, especially for technical tools such as Excel, AutoCAD, and core civil engineering concepts. These skills are more effectively learned through guided lectures, demonstrations, and step-by-step instruction before being applied in assignments. Providing clearer notes and practical demonstrations would help students build a stronger foundation and gain confidence before independently completing tasks.

The whole Online learning system never worked for me personally. I couldn’t keep up to date with most classes, submissions dates and test dates. Hopefully things change as we headed forward for 2023 because the Corona Virus Pandemic had declined a long while ago.
