Living on campus at Nanyang Technological University has its perks and drawbacks. On the positive side, the convenience is unbeatable. With classes just a short walk away, I can easily fit in study sessions and social activities. The amenities are impressive; our dorm has a gym, study lounges, and recreational areas, fostering a vibrant community. Having a roommate has been a mixed experience. It’s great to have someone to share meals with and tackle the challenges of university life, but it can be tough if our schedules clash or if we have different lifestyles. The canteen offers a wide variety of food options, catering to various tastes, although peak hours can mean long lines. I appreciate the effort made to include healthy choices. living on campus has enhanced my university experience, providing a sense of belonging while offering essential facilities and a lively atmosphere, despite some occasional roommate challenges.

As an Arts and Humanities student, my experience at NTU has been mixed. The classes are intellectually stimulating and the faculty is passionate about their subjects, which I appreciate. But the campus can feel quite isolated from the bustling city, which sometimes limits social and cultural engagement. The lack of variety in food options and social spaces is also a downside. While there are some good events and workshops, they often cater more to STEM students. NTU excels in many academic aspects but could benefit from a more diverse and inclusive campus environment for the arts.

Studying at NTU in the arts and humanities field has offered me a unique perspective on the world. The interdisciplinary approach and access to diverse courses foster a deep intellectual curiosity. The campus environment, while academic-focused, is also very supportive of creative expression. Singapore’s rich history and cultural landscape provide a dynamic backdrop for my studies. However, compared to other fields, the arts often seem underrepresented in terms of resources and career opportunities. Still, the vibrant student community and various cultural events help balance this, making for a rewarding experience despite the challenges.
