Student review [#95890] for Psychology
at University of Puerto Rico Rio Piedras

I will highlight the aspects that are the most valuable for me. Many students have a love/hate relationship with the University due to the challenges one faces because of the institution’s close ties with the government. However, through it all my experience has been very enriching.

Professors: The professors in my programme are very supportive. They are not only knowledgeable in their fields but also very passionate and dedicated in contributing to the development of the next generation of leaders. I’ve had incredible professors who I greatly appreciate for expanding my horizons not only in terms of academic and professional opportunities but in the way I think and see the world.

Environment: The green scenery and historical buildings make the campus a pleasant place to be in. There are many nice places to sit and have conversations or to catch up on your readings.

Research project and internship opportunities: Professors are very active in generating research proposals and creating opportunities for students. In both undergraduate and graduate studies I have been involved in research projects and other experiences that have contributed to my academic and professional development and have also supported me financially.

Challenges: It is Puerto Rico’s only public University therefore the political and socioeconomic situation in Puerto Rico has had a significant impact on the services and facilities of the University. Although this can often be very frustrating, the opportunities, experiences, relationships and learnings obtained are invaluable.
