I studied Electrical Engineering at Rivers State University, Port Harcourt, from 2011 to 2017. The programme was rigorous and well-structured, giving me a strong technical foundation and practical knowledge that I still apply in my career today.
What stood out to me the most was the dedication of some lecturers who were passionate about their subjects and willing to guide students beyond the classroom. The hands-on laboratory sessions and group projects also prepared us for real-world problem-solving.
However, like many public universities, there were challenges such as occasional strikes, limited access to modern equipment, and sometimes overcrowded classes. Despite these, the university environment encouraged resilience, adaptability, and independent learning, which I now see as invaluable skills.
Overall, I would recommend Rivers State University to prospective students who are looking for a solid engineering education and are ready to stay focused and make the best out of the opportunities provided.
