What I love about the university is that our teachers are teaching us very well and even doing the exam period they make sure that all the students are reading their books.but what I don’t like about it is that there are too much of cultism in my university that’s what I don’t like about it

My program in UNILAG so far has been a rollercoaster, in the sense that it has been nice, at some points, but on some other days, it has not really been nice. I love my institution because it really creates room for a lot of opportunities for me, and it is also a lovely place to school in.

UNILAG is awesome and amazing institution of high learning for any serious minded person.

Setting a standard, culture and discipline is all you need to drive through the years of studies.

Early rise for morning class and studies keep crossing my mind daily as a prerequisite for academic excellence and maturity.

As a 19-year-old, 300-level Accounting student, I’ve had the chance to experience a lot of what UNILAG offers in terms of resources and support for students. In my time here, I’ve come to realize how much these resources can make a difference in academic performance, personal well-being, and career development. So I’d take a moment to share my thoughts on the university’s resources and how they’ve contributed to my experience.

Academic Support: A Strong Foundation

As an Accounting major, I’ve found that the workload can be intense, and having the right academic support has been crucial. The university’s library is a lifesaver, not just for finding textbooks or research materials, but also for offering a quiet place to study or work on assignments. There’s also the academic writing center,the tutors in the accounting department have been incredibly helpful—whether it’s through one-on-one sessions or small group workshops.

Career Services: Preparing for the Future

As someone studying Accounting, it’s important to start thinking about the future, and the university’s career services have been amazing for that. I’ve had the opportunity to attend a few career fairs, where I was able to meet with recruiters from top firms and even schedule interviews. There are also plenty of workshops on resume building, interview prep, and networking skills, which I’ve found super helpful as I prepare for internships and my career after graduation. The career counselors are approachable and knowledgeable, and they’ve helped me align my academic goals with real-world opportunities.
The school though has poor campus hostels and very expensive private hostels/apartments. They definitely do not prioritize mental health.

It’s been alright in general. Conducive learning environment, creation of different (academic and non academic) types of opportunities for students in different departments, and the establishment of high standards that produces capable graduates, postgraduates and masters pf high calibre. However, shortcomings such as constant halting of educational activities due to the school’s engagement in an intermittent national strike, cancellation and/or online classes held due to meagre interest of some lecturers in teaching, amd the yearly extension of the academic calendar has led to an increase in the number of years student spend studying a particular course.

The University of Lagos (Unilag) is widely regarded as a top institution, offering quality education and world-class facilities. However, the frequent strikes, often due to industrial action by staff unions, have disrupted the academic calendar. These strikes affect students’ progress, delay graduations, and create uncertainty around academic scheduling, impacting the overall experience despite the institution’s high standards. This challenge underscores the need for improved dialogue between the government and unions to resolve disputes and ensure uninterrupted academic activities for students.

It is a university of first choice where learning is interesting. You are moulded into becoming a valuable assest first to your self and to the society at large. The learning environment is condusive

This university is the absolute best in the country as it has the best and most conducive environment for learning and our professors are the best the country has got. It is in a very locatable area and its just too perfect for education.

I think it is a very good environment. I don’t like the fact that the classrooms are not always enough for students and so, some students have to stand throughout the lectures. In all, it is a very interesting school and the students are disciplined.

The infrastructure is lovely and is occasionally renovated based on the needs of the students. It offers modern classrooms, a modern library, a sports field, etc. The hostel is also run with great manners. Additionally, the cuisine at the canteen is of high quality
