Accomodation facilities are not enough with poses a significant threat for students this makes the private off campus housing expensive and too exorbitant to access.
Transportation facilities is something that I must commend
Well, The school is an amazing school. The lecturers are wonderful set of people who put in their best to impact knowledge to students.
It has a conducive learning environment.
There’s no room for bribery amongst lecturers and students and you have to put in your best to attain the level of success you want.
Then it was science based public university with tough life coping with lectures, environment especially North Core i.e Zamf hostel. In that school you have to fight your way in for everything, the queuing for getting water in the tap, the rushing to get a bus or Keke, the trekking lifestyle, the campus life was hard unlike other schools but the experience is good. It shaped a lot in me. Even submitting assignments, taking exams on e-exam centre you will have to queue up, the toggling from one lecture to another lecture venue.
View moreI was admitted into the Industrial Physics department, which is widely regarded as one of the most challenging departments in the institution. The difficulty wasn’t just academic—the lecturers were known for being particularly strict, which made the journey even harder, especially coming from a low-income background.
My academic experience was mixed: I had a range of grades—A, B, C, D, and even F at some points. One incident that stood out was during 300-level second semester when we were asked to write our names and CGPAs on a sheet. We later found out this was used to reduce the number of students graduating with Second Class Upper, and even affected the only First Class candidate. When results came out, over 80% of us had a carryover in one course, and many were pushed down to a Second Class Lower. Some gave up, but I stayed focused.
In my final year, I worked hard and bounced back to finish with a Second Class Upper. I made a conscious decision to avoid distractions like relationships, which helped me stay focused. I was also committed to attending FCS (Fellowship of Christian Students), which strengthened my spiritual life and gave me the resilience to face the many challenges, including hunger and personal struggles.
Despite everything, I’m proud to say I conquered.
View moreAs a Mechanical Engineering graduate, my experience at Joseph Sarwuan Tarka university Makurdi was both challenging and rewarding. The curriculum was well-structured, covering core engineering principles alongside modern applications such as CAD, thermodynamics, and fluid mechanics.
One of the highlights was the emphasis on hands-on learning—lab sessions, design projects, and industrial training really helped bridge the gap between theory and practice. The faculty were knowledgeable and approachable, although some courses could have benefited from updated content and more modern equipment.
Campus life was vibrant and offered various opportunities for personal growth through clubs, workshops, and engineering competitions. Career services could be improved, especially in connecting students with relevant internship and job opportunities.
Overall, the program equipped me with strong analytical and technical skills, preparing me well for real-world engineering roles.
