Its a 360 life changing experience overall

I like the location and the structure of my school it’s in a very serene and conducive environment it embraces nature(trees, good view etc), My lecturers are very flexible but I don’t like my school because the system is built to be religiously biased, I can’t express my fashion sense through dressing because it’s in a Muslim state and they’re going to have a problem with it.

My Memorable "Better by Far" Journey.

My time at the University of Ilorin was truly a journey of growth, filled with both rewarding experiences and a few challenges that helped shape my perspective. I’m happy to share a bit about what stood out to me during my years at UNILORIN.

The academic environment at UNILORIN is one of the things I’ll always remember. There’s a good variety of courses within my department, which gave me the chance to explore different aspects of my field. Most of the professors were approachable and willing to help when needed, although I wish some lectures could have been a bit more engaging. Sometimes, it felt like some professors could have made their sessions more interactive to help with understanding.

One of the highlights for me was working on my project titled “The Effectiveness and Rate of Use of Google Workspace Amongst UNILORIN Students.” It was such a rewarding challenge, and having Prof. Onasanya as my supervisor made all the difference. He guided me through the research process with so much patience and insight, and the project ended up being a real eye-opener into how students were using technology for their academic work. The whole experience not only boosted my research skills but also gave me a sense of purpose as I explored how modern tools are impacting education.

Campus life at UNILORIN was pretty vibrant, with plenty of opportunities for both academic growth and social involvement. The campus itself is spacious and green, which made it enjoyable to just walk around when I needed a break. The student union was active, and I found it great to participate in different events, whether they were intellectual talks or social gatherings. There were also decent sports facilities, and I had fun participating in some intramural sports.

The hostels, while fostering a sense of community, could get crowded and sometimes faced challenges with utilities like water and electricity. I’d also recommend future students explore the different eateries on campus; there’s always something new to try, and variety is key when you’re looking for a change from the usual meal options.

However, like any place, there were definitely a few bumps along the way. The biggest challenge for me was transport. Since I stayed off-campus, the distance from the main gate made it difficult to find reliable buses. It was especially frustrating during exam periods when everyone was rushing to get in and out of campus. I often found myself scrambling to catch a bus, which added unnecessary stress to an already stressful time.

Another challenge was the exam logistics. The CBT center was often overcrowded, and it sometimes felt like there weren’t enough seats for everyone. Waiting in long lines, especially during exam periods, wasn’t ideal, and the process felt rushed, adding even more pressure when exams were right around the corner.

That said, I do believe staying on campus would have alleviated some of these hassles. Being closer to everything; especially during those stressful periods, would have made a huge difference in reducing transport and exam-related stress.

All in all, I’d say that UNILORIN offers a strong academic foundation and a supportive environment for students. The challenges I faced were manageable, but they definitely taught me how to adapt. If you’re considering UNILORIN, I’d recommend staying involved in the student community and not being afraid to seek out help from your professors. And if possible, staying on campus would definitely make your university experience a lot smoother and more enjoyable.

Good luck to all future students! I hope you make the most of your time there and find it as fulfilling as I did.
