GOOD BUT NOT EXCELLENT

I studied educational psychology, guidance and counselling, indeed it’s a good program, I had good lecturers.
My only issues were:
1. The program was more of the theoretical than practical. At some point there should have been a clinical trial of students in counselling aside the normal practicum in schools
2. The inclusion of elective “teachable” courses was just to irrelevant to me. This was a serious distraction to the main goal of the program.
3. The department should be separated and considered a very essential course just like medicine, law, nursing etc because it deals with the mental health of the people. A wrong assumption or diagnosis or counsel, kills while one is still alive.
4. I feel proper scrutiny should be done during the admission process so as to admit only those who will be ready for it.
5. Student counsellors during their practicum encounters lots of financial hedges because it’s capital intensive. Hence, student counsellors deserves to be put on wages just like those in the medical fields during their housemanship.
