Studying at Universiti Malaysia Terengganu (UMT) was an enriching experience, particularly in the field of oceanography. What stood out the most was the strong emphasis on hands-on research, supported by the Institute of Oceanography and Environment (INOS). I had the opportunity to participate in multiple research expeditions, including offshore sampling trips in the South China Sea, which provided invaluable field experience. The professors were highly knowledgeable and supportive, always encouraging critical thinking and practical applications of marine science. The curriculum was well-structured, integrating theoretical knowledge with real-world case studies. Additionally, the campus’s coastal location created a perfect environment for marine studies, with access to well-equipped laboratories and research vessels. While some administrative processes could be more efficient, the overall experience at UMT significantly contributed to my understanding of oceanography and environmental research.
