The rich history of research and accomplishments at Faculty of Mathematics and Informatics truly motivates and inspires you to work harder and attain your full potential.

Moreover, Student Coordinators have been incredibly supportive and helpful since admissions pursual till today. Care, love and respect for all are the fundamentals of Lithuanian Culture. I’m glad I made this choice, and my experience at Vilnius University has been really interesting so far.

As an international student, my time at Mathematics and Informatics Faculty, Vilnius University (MIF-VU) has been fulfilling. MIF has a very supportive education system, learned faculty and class fellows who actively participate in projects and social activities. The Teachers are knowledgeful and experienced, always willing to help the students. The Masters in Software Engineering program has helped me apply theoretical knowledge in skills enhancement and boost up confidence. I believe it is going to improve my academic and professional endeavors.

I was amazed by how Vilnius University, one of the oldest universities in Eastern Europe, manages to integrate cutting-edge tech like AI into its curriculum. The professors are highly supportive and the course content is very up-to-date. The campus in the old town is charming, and the international student community is growing every year.

Studying Software Engineering at Vilnius University has been a mix of excitement and hard work. Some courses are tough, especially when learning algorithms or working on big projects, but seeing your code actually run makes it all worth it. Professors are friendly and always willing to help, which makes a huge difference when you’re stuck. I’ve also loved the group projects and hackathons—they feel a lot like real tech work and teach you how to collaborate under pressure. It’s intense at times, but I feel like I’m really growing as a programmer every day.

In general, my opinions are quite optimistic and I can recommend it to people who want to build a career in IT, Cybersecurity sector. The main advantage of university is paying high attention to practical subjects which gives hands-on experience to students, the drawbacks can be about the campus. Kaunas faculty is quite small, and there is not much things to do.

As a first year student in Software engineering, the study programme and academic work load is pretty demanding. The Mathematic and Informatics faculty buildings aren’t really renovated, but the lecturers are friendly and proffessional. There is a lot of study material and expensive databases that you get access to. The student community is pretty active and involved in many student focused event organizing.

Studying Information Systems & Cybersecurity at Vilnius University is not for the lazy. Let me start there.
The program really pushes you. Some semesters feel manageable, and others feel like the university collectively decided to test your character development arc. You’ll deal with programming, operating systems, databases, security concepts, and moments where you question your life choices at 2AM before a deadline.
But here’s the thing, it’s solid.
The professors (most of them) know their stuff. The cybersecurity and systems-related subjects are especially interesting if you actually care about how things work under the surface. It’s not just theory, you’re forced to think. And struggle. And then eventually understand. That “click” moment? Worth it.
