Riga Technical University, or RTU, is one of the main universities in Latvia, and it’s actually the oldest technical university in the Baltic countries. What I really like about RTU is that it has a modern vibe but also a long history. The main campus is on Ķīpsala Island in Riga, which is a nice and calm place surrounded by water. Most of the buildings are new and clean, and there are dormitories nearby, so everything is close and easy to reach.
The university focuses a lot on engineering, computer science, and technology, but there are also programs in business and management. RTU gives students a lot of opportunities to learn through practice, not just theory. There are labs, workshops, and even projects where you can work with real companies. Another great thing is that it’s very international — students come from all over the world, and you can also go abroad through the Erasmus exchange program.
Of course, it’s not perfect. The workload can be heavy, and sometimes communication with administration takes time. But overall, I think RTU gives a really good education and prepares students for real-life jobs. It’s a great place for anyone who wants to study in a technical field and live in a peaceful European city like Riga.
