Daugavpils University - DU (reviews)

Daugavpils University offers a friendly and affordable environment with supportive teachers. I faced an insurance issue, and the international coordinator personally accompanied me to an office to resolve it, which I really appreciated. However, administrative processes can be slow and career support is limited. Overall, it’s a decent choice for students seeking a calm and budget friendly place to study.

I have been to Daugavpils as an Erasmus student for a semester. I found a really quiet environment, with small classes, with welcoming classmates and helping and flexible professors. The administration offices smoothly managed documents and requests; also life in the общежитие was very fun and enjoyable.
I am a student of foreign languages, so I chose Daugavpils because of its Russian speaking minority, which makes it a pretty unique place in Europe. Still, I was negatively surprised when i found out the small amount of classes taught in Russian (evidently the main language of the inhabitants of the town). I also felt the lack of events and occasion for students to meet and mingle.
Despite all, I enjoyed my time at DU and I would really suggest the university to others and in case of international students, mostly because it is a good way to experience Eastern European culture and education.
Just to summarise: a small, quiet Easter European University!

I studied English Philology with German and Intercultural Relations in DU. The Humanitarian faculty is knowledgeable and often approachable, with many professors bringing real-world experience into the classroom.The faculty is made up of scholars with strong academic backgrounds, their lectures where very exciting and valuable. DU offers a rewarding academic experience and versatile skill set for the future.

Great university! I really like the professors and the atmosphere. Studying here is comfortable and enjoyable. The only downside is the lack of events—I don’t even know what’s happening most of the time
