My experience at the University of Nairobi was far from smooth, and I believe it reflects the reality many students face in public universities. One of the most frustrating challenges was the issue of missing marks — where coursework or exam grades would not be recorded, often due to lecturer turnover or administrative mishandling. This wasn’t a minor inconvenience as it sometimes delayed students’ progress by up to two years and even delayed graduation.
The challenge taught me patience and resiliency. And while I value the education I received there, I believe the University can improve in its academic record-keeping and student support systems.
