I am currently a fourth-year student pursuing a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree. The course is intense and demanding, but incredibly rewarding. It covers a wide range of subjects like constitutional law, criminal law, contract law, and international law, providing a solid foundation in both theoretical and practical aspects of the legal system in Kenya.
What I like the most is the critical thinking and analytical skills I am developing through being constantly challenged to think deeply about complex legal issues, analyze case studies, and construct well-reasoned arguments. The annual moot court competitions are fascinating, as they give us a taste of real courtroom proceedings and help build our public speaking and advocacy skills.
The faculty is experienced, approachable, and genuinely invested in our success. They encourage open discussions and debates, which make the learning environment dynamic and engaging. The guest lectures from practising lawyers and judges are also a highlight, offering insights into the practical realities of the legal profession.
If you have a passion for law and are ready for a rigorous academic journey, an LLB is a fantastic choice. It opens up numerous career paths, from practising as a lawyer to working in corporate sectors, public service, or further academic legal research.
