The University of the West Indies Open Campus, Jamaica (reviews)

There are some things that could use some work in terms of timeframe when navigating issues etc. The time taken by admin to sort through different things can be inconveniencing but overall very accommodating staff, great advising and great atmosphere.

The university is an extraordinary one. They ensure that students receive adequate materials for their studies. I don’t dislike much, however, it is costly, like is almost everything in the world, lol. I would recommend it nonetheless.

Tutors hardly want to assist you when you ask for help. Since I got to level two courses, tutors are marking harder, providing less support, giving feedback to assignments late and just generally making our lives harder.

What I like about the UWI Open Campus is the fact that it is available to be done virtually. What I don’t like is the lack of help from the course instructors, the late feedback provided for course assessments and the lack of support. It seems that the University and the tutors are having some sort of inside issue or dispute, but I do not believe they should let this affect the students who are paying hard-earned money to attain a degree. Through all the issues of tutors not supporting or providing sufficient help to the students, the university has raised it’s tuition fees. These factors made me reconsider whether I should have applied to another university initially. It is not a comfortable experience at all.
