What is a Management degree?

A Management degree builds a strong foundation in a wide variety of fields including business, finance, economics and marketing. It develops students’ understanding of business practices, structures, business theory, business strategy and research as well as global economies and financial markets. Doing a Management Degree also allows students to gain skills that enable them to work with financial and numerical data effectively.

Management degrees cover different managerial roles, such as Human Resource (HR) management, hospitality management, innovation management, operations management, etc. They can be specialized into one of the areas mentioned above or follow a more general approach that covers most of these areas.

The range of management degrees is huge and includes Business Management, Management, Marketing Management, etc. They are predominantly offered in the business departments/business schools/management schools of different universities.

Benefits of a Management degree

One of the main benefits of this degree is that Management is a broad discipline, which keeps students’ career options open.

Management degrees could have a very practical focus, which is an opportunity for students to gain experience in the process of completing their degree before having started their professional careers. Management courses usually offer work placements and practical modules, which include business simulations and business creation in a simulated environment. Acquiring practical experience through these opportunities could make students stand out from the crowd in the job market once they graduate. Research-oriented Management degrees also exist for those who prefer the theoretical aspects of such a degree. Most courses, however, have established a good balance between theory and practice in order to meet the needs of all students.

Management degrees also prepare students to serve the managerial role across a wide range of areas, including HR management, hospitality management, innovation management, operations management, etc. Students can specialize in one particular area or focus on gaining knowledge across all of these areas thanks to the high availability of different management courses.

Additionally, there is a high demand for management professionals in the contemporary business world. Therefore, taking a management course is an opportunity for students to kick-start their careers and occupy a higher position in the organizational hierarchy.

management degree Structure

Management courses usually begin by introducing students to different areas covered by the managerial role, such as organizational management, business environment, statistics, accounting and finance, business growth, etc. After the first year, institutions allow students to explore the management discipline into more depth by delivering specialized modules and offering optional modules, which enable students to choose subjects that interest them the most and are most relevant to their career aspirations.

I am attending the third year at H-farm. I am finally at the end of my journey and I can say that it was interesting and I met a lot of new people.

We studied subjects related to economics, finance, marketing, and law and there was a part on coding.

My overall opinion about it is positive and I surely recommend it to you!

    Overall decent experience!

I studied economics at Ca’ Foscari, and I can confidently say the program is very strong. During my studies, there were many extra events where we got to meet managers from well-known companies. There were also plenty of activities like sports clubs, student associations, and language courses, so I was never bored. The university is also great at international communication, with exchange programs like Erasmus, Overseas, and Double Degree options. After graduating, I feel that I have learned a lot and enjoyed being part of a diverse international community, using the best privileges of European education system.

The course is held on the H-FARM campus in Roncade. The course is Digital management and you will have to study subjects that go from economics, to coding, statistics, marketing, digital/it law,..
Some professors are good but others were too boring and did not know how to engage the students to keep them concentrated on the lesson.
Generally, I recommend this course for those interested in the digital field and who want to live an experience on a real campus.

Positive experience, with room for improvement.

Advantages: last 6 months of the university are dedicated to the internship that in my case concluded with a hiring. So you have the power of a Master’s degree with a three years bachelor’s.
Material to study is halved with respect to other (public) universities. This is not a disadvantage because the important topics are still touched so we are not less prepared than other students. And we are not less free: there are a lot of projects to be carried out during the courses.
Another advantage is, as a matter of fact, that we are used to speaking in public, in front of other students, or also during events.
The environment is unique and you can truly experience the campus life: from sports fields to parties, bistros, the majestic library, plenty of study rooms, and dormitories. Here, living far away from home, I have found my family.
It has been a 3 years experience full of special people and adventures.

Disadvantages: Professors are good, but they are all Italian and just a few of them have mastered the English language. So if you wish to improve your communication skills, forget about it (unless you don’t find that unique international student that doesn’t speak Italian). I have improved my writing skills at least.
For what concerns the internationalization and heterogeneity of the campus, the majority of people are from Veneto, just a few (10 maximum) from other parts of Italy. Because they are a minority, the services related to people coming from far away and without a car are practically 0.
Reaching the campus is impossible, means of transport rare and complicated and the H-FARM support in this is practically nothing. Especially when you have to reach the campus during exams.
Oh, last thing: go away if you cannot afford it.

Would I do it again? Absolutely yes.

Hi! I wanted to ask if you are a native Italian speaker? I dont speak any Italian and am wondering how difficult making friends will be with no Italian. Thanks!

Hi! Yes I am. Unfortunately very few people don’t speak italian in H-FARM, so it can be very challenging. But at the same time it really depends on your personality: one of my biggest friends is from Germany and couldn’t say a word of Italian at the beginning, he still has made a lot of friends. So if you don’t typically lose heart, you’ll enjoy the journey.

    nice place

I think they are in good shape on an Erasmus and overseas level. new classrooms and everything or almost everything works. teaching needs to be improved, however, it is already much better than other Italian universities where there are still dinosaurs.

    Bad management

I have been attending at the Ca’foscari University foundation year. Everything is nice except for management of the university. Eventhough they take 5000 euro for tuition fee, they don’t solve any of our problems that we have about class or a subject. And also time to eat lunch within a day full of class is 15 minutes! And when you tell them you have a problem they won’t even bother to solve they will just say how many students they have and how they don’t have time.
