The school is good, there is good teaching, so much so that it is private and the number of students is limited, this ensures that there is no confusion as in large universities, only that from my point of view it is not very well organized, they could do more with regard to equipment and laboratories, which are few and hardly used, the same thing for post-university courses, which are not very thorough and could be organized much better. For the rest, the teachers are well prepared and available, there is a jovial environment, the lessons are targeted and the subjects are all useful for a future profession that has to do with foreign languages.

I think SSML is a great opportunity for all the students who want to learn English in a “friendly” university. In fact thanks to its small classrooms each student can build up a rapport with all professors and other students and can be supported and helped to improve better and faster.
SSML also helped me to start different kinds of jobs where a very good knowledge of the English language was required.

I attended the SSML in Varese for three years to study linguistic mediation. When I was a student I was a private university facility with a single degree course of about 40 students, and a master’s degree course and optional study of the Chinese language had been added. The languages available were English (mandatory for all), French, German, Spanish and Japanese, therefore mainly European languages.
The environment was very intimate and familiar, the secretarial staff was extremely kind and the structure, even if rather old and a bit run down, had several classrooms, of which the largest was room 2, very impressive, as once it was a small church, in fact it is frescoed and there is even an altar still present.
The teaching staff was varied, helpful and highly trained, both Italian and native speakers, and the study courses also included subjects other than foreign languages, both humanities and legal-financial, which made the degree course more complete. The level of teaching was quite high and apart from the first year, which was a bit stressful as there were many hours of class in both the morning and the afternoon, the pace of study was absolutely fluid.
There was a good organization in terms of lesson schedules, also made possible by the fact that being a small structure and not a university the flow of students was much more limited, so it was easier to teach: teachers did not need microphones to talking, it was easy for the students to ask questions because the classrooms were small and therefore easily manageable.
As for the equipment for that type of degree course, no details were needed, a computer lab was available.
As for any conventions, I remember that at the time we were organizing for the Erasmus program, but it was not yet active.
It was already more than good, but certainly the school has improved a lot since then. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a quiet and quality academic environment.

Student life there was great. I appreciated the subjects I studied and the way they were taught. I would improve the “furniture” classrooms and would add a student cafeteria. It was a great experience.
